Brooke Bates is a 12 year old from West Kelowna BC. She has been racing XCO mountain bike and cyclocross since she was 8 years old.
Brooke’s best race results were a 2nd place finish in the U13 XCO MTB BC Provincial Championships, followed up with a 3rd place finish in the U13 BC CX Provincial Championships, all while only 10 years old!! With racing grinding to a halt in 2020, Brooke was lucky enough to snag a 3rd place in the Cat 2 U15 US Cup Vail Lake XCO before lockdown started.
When Brooke isn’t riding she enjoys downhill skiing, flipping on her trampoline, stand up paddle boarding and swimming.
Brooke’s main goal for 2021 is to improve her fitness by riding a tonne! She also wants to improve her cornering speed, and become smoother through technical, rooty uphill sections. Mostly she just wants to get back to racing bikes!
Brooke is crazy stoked to have a female mentor so she isn’t always stuck riding with the boys! She has been lucky enough to get support from both two time Olympian Brittany Webster and Xterra World champ Emanuela Bandol and is looking forward to riding with her new mentor as well! Mostly she is stoked to get to know other Ride Like a Girl rippers to share her favourite sport with!
