Dayna was drawn to the simplicities and freedom that the a track bike gave her.  Cycling had always been an outlet to escape the craziness of city living and a way to get from point A to point B.  She never really considered racing until a friend introduced her to cyclocross.  This is where she found her people and extension of a deeper sense of community.  After trying a few beginner cyclocross races and falling in love, Dayna soon after co-developed a grass roots cycling team in Vancouver called Last Call Racing, where the misfits among the cycling community could feel included, and supported.  Dayna has had the opportunity to travel many places with her bikes, and  in 2019 went to Utah for single speed worlds cyclocross racing and got experience the depths that cycling community has to offer.

Dayna got into mountain biking a later in life then most, not buying her first mountain bike until she was already into her thirties. Mountain biking made her feel like a kid again, getting to experience new things on two wheels for the first time?  Dayna was captivated by mountain biking and understands the importance of having a supportive and inclusive group that pushes you harder on the trails to develop new skills, all while being positive and having a good time. Having mountains like Fromme and Seymour in her backyard was an exciting way to test her limits, learn new skills, and conquer challenging technical features. Dayna tried her hand at XCO Mtb racing in 2019 where she noticed the fields were small and few in the female categories.

Since moving out to Penticton, biking has been an integral part of her life and Dayna says she has found as sense of ease and freedom while exploring new trails and terrain.

Dayna is super excited to be given the opportunity to mentor with RLG, where she hopes her enthusiasm and overall good vibes (and some skills) can be transferred over.  She is super passionate about helping make those around her feel at ease and confident, while in or out of the saddle.  Dayna understands the importance of developing skills, along with a mindset to overcome barriers on the trails as well as in life.

 Let’s get rad!
