Frederica Blouin-Comeau, 17, from Comox, BC is a newly chosen rider for the Ride Like a Girl Program of 2019. She has been paired this year with Tanya Allen, as a mentor. She has experienced races on the road side of cycling for a couple of years. Frederica developed a curiosity towards the other types of cycling styles out there. After trying out mountain biking in the fabulous local trails of Cumberland, BC, Frederica was instantly captivated and developed a passion for the sport. Last year, she participated in the Cumberland Enduro, part of the Island Cup Series, and obtained fourth position in her category. For the 2019 season, she would like to focus on the Island Cup Series, both in the disciplines of Enduro and Cross-Country. This, being her first year of racing, Frederica would like to gain confidence, technical skills and speed, to push herself up to her limits and to learn as much as she can about the sport. Her ultimate goal would be to make the podium at the provincials. During the previous year, she created a project that raised funds for the Cumberland Community Forest Society. Frederica is looking forward to involving herself as much as she can in the mountain biking community, by volunteering and helping organizing races and even spend days improving the local trails. But, to ride as much as she can!
