Jean Ann McKirdy

Jean Ann Berkenpas competed as a member of Canada's National Mountain Bike Team, beginning as a Junior in 2001 and continuing up to elite until 2013. During that time she won multiple national titles as a Junior and U23 rider, and competed in World Championships and World Cups as an elite rider. Her experiences racing have taken her to Europe, South Africa and New Zealand, and she has found many great friends along the way. Jean Ann currently works as a high school teacher and the event coordinator of the Mount Robson Marathon. She lives with her husband and son on the family farm in Valemount where they have a market garden, as well as a growing number of pets (including a dog, two cats and five ducks). She stays involved in the cycling community through volunteering with the Valemount Bike Park, coaching youth and beginners, hosting Liv Women's events, and racing locally.
