Athlete match: Echo Slobodzian

Lauren’s first bike was a plastic Big Wheels circa 1975 and since then has found herself on 2 wheels most days.  Hailing from Ontario with a pitstop first in Canmore, Alberta as Head Coach for a large cycling club, she happily settled with her family on mountain bike mecca Vancouver Island in Comox Valley in 2011. A Cycling BC iRide Head Coach from 2013-2020, Lauren’s energy, enthusiasm and experience helped a generation of riders build confidence at every level and stage in cycling. 2017 viaSport’s Coach of the Year, NCCP, PMBI certified and as a part of Cycling BC’s Coach Developer team Lauren is helping to grow BC’s team of qualified coaches. As the SD71 School Cycling Program Coordinator Lauren is helping to ensure all Comox Valley students are cycling educated while developing a passion for cycling in our youth. Lauren is a director with Pacific Sport Vancouver Island bringing her passion for coaching, youth sports, and community to the organization. When not coaching, volunteering or trackside cheering (for her professional MTB racer daughter) you’ll almost always find Lauren on 2 wheels with a muddy grin. Lauren can vividly remember coaching Echo (over the Found Link drop) as a wee 7 year old and is beyond stoked to ride with Echo again and be a part of the awesome RLAG community.
