Eliza Martineau
Athlete match: Zoe Knight
Eliza has spent the past decade immersed in the mountain bike industry, building both experience and community on the trails. For the past five years, she has been coaching and mentoring riders, with a special focus on creating supportive spaces where girls can grow their confidence on bikes with SweetSkills based in the Sea to Sky corridor and Ladies Night at the bikepark. She believes that mountain biking isn’t just about speed or technical skill—it’s about learning to trust yourself, push through challenges, and celebrate every step of progress. Over the last six years, she has raced in events including the BC Cup series, Crankworx, and the beloved local Phat Wednesdays, developing a strong passion for progression, resilience, and the energy that comes from riding alongside guiding snowboard in Japan during winter seasons. As a mentor, Eliza brings both racing experience and a genuine love for the sport to every ride. Whether helping someone roll their first feature, improve race-day confidence, or simply find joy on the trail, she is passionate about supporting the next generation of female riders and helping them discover how strong and capable they really are.
Is there anything in this upcoming season you are especially excited about?
Every summer, I coach with the Jo & Co Clinic on the Sunshine Coast, which I consider to be one of the highest levels of coaching available for women in BC. We coach girls on Coastal Cruise, an incredibly powerful event where riders build confidence, support each other, and push their limits—you’ll often see girls progressing to big jumps and features they never thought possible. My life tends to pivot quickly because of the lifestyle I’ve chosen, and that adaptability keeps me excited about taking on new projects. I’m especially motivated to support initiatives that create more opportunities for girls in mountain biking, since they are still underrepresented in the sport.
