Emily Slaco

Enduro

Athlete match: Ayva Gaudet

Upon graduating from University Emily ditched coastal life and hightailed it for the mountains. Ending up in Whistler she discovered mountain biking and became hooked!  Whistler being the Mecca that it is Emily quickly picked up the sport and even dabbled in some local xc and downhill races before she took a job and moved to the South Chilcotins.  It was here that lots of learning happened, understanding the backcountry and learning to travel and navigate safely through it.  Emily eventually became a guide for Tyax Adventures and also works with Big Mountain adventures globally.

After a few years the draw of Whistler & Pemberton pulled her back and it was at this time that Emily got into Enduro racing.  Starting with local races and then racing throughout BC and into Washington and Oregon.  After a few years Emily was linked up with Juliana Bicycles and with that support was able to race in some multi-day Enduro races all over the world.

At the same time Emily received her Level 2 PMBIA coaching certification and has coached the WORCA kids program as well as created the first Pemberton kids program with PORCA.  While working at Tyax Adventures she started offering womens backcountry camps and then eventually partnered up with Sweet Skills BC and now offers camps and clinics throughout BC and the Yukon.

These days you’ll find Emily working as a Sales Rep with Chromag bikes where she gets to chat daily about bikes.  Along with that she’s the Vice President of the Pemberton Valley Trails Association (PVTA) who’s main responsibility is the maintenance of Pemberton’s trail network.
