Jamie Wheeler

Downhill & Enduro

Athlete Match: Meirah Honeysett

Hi, I'm Jamie and I'm stoked to be part of RLG this year! I found mtb in my early 30s after having my daughter and moving on from competitive horse showing. I dove in deep - I started racing local enduros in my second season of riding. After a couple seasons of Island Cup enduros, I was looking for the next step but I really struggled with endurance, so I quickly turned my sights toward Downhill racing. For the past couple seasons, I've been tackling NW Cups and BC Cups and I've been enjoying the whole new level of challenge these intimidating races bring for me. Last year, I took strides to become more involved in the local mtb community and became a volunteer guide for UROC's weekly ladies rides, was a guide for RideLab bike fest, got my GSMBC coaching certificate and became a part time coach with Gravity MTB, was invited to join Rowdy Race Club on their mission to 'get more wom+n to the start line,' and now I'm thrilled to also become a RLG mentor. I see incredible value in racing and progressing on the bike, as it translates to so many other aspects of life, and I'm passionate about helping reduce barriers and create community for other women and girls to have those experiences and find that passion as well.

Is there anything in this upcoming season you are especially excited about?

I can't wait to race more DH this year, and to double down on my commitment to supporting girls and women who are in their way to finding the same passion for racing that I've found!
